La prueba utiliza un anticuerpo anti hemoglobina para detectar selectivamente la sangre oculta o hemoglobina humana a 50 ng/ml o 6 µg/g o más en heces. La diferencia de los ensayos con guayacol, la precisión de la prueba no se ve afectada por la dieta del paciente.
