Dr. Florian Falter voltooide het grootste deel van zijn opleiding in Duitsland aan de Universiteit van Aken, waar hij ook zijn doctoraat behaalde. Na in een aantal verschillende landen te hebben gewerkt, vestigde hij zich uiteindelijk in Cambridge in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. In 2001 werd hij benoemd tot adviseur voor anesthesie en intensive care in het Papworth Hospital, een van de grootste hartafdelingen in Europa. Hij leidde de anesthesieafdeling en operatiekamers tot 2016. Zijn specialisatie in cardiale peri-operatieve geneeskunde heeft geleid tot talrijke interesses op dit gebied van de anesthesie. Hij heeft een sterke portefeuille in echocardiografie, ECMO voor ademhalings- of hartfalen, en cardiopulmonaire bypass.
Dr. Falter's huidige academische activiteiten concentreren zich op bypass en extracorporale circulatie. Hij heeft de Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) meer dan tien jaar in verschillende functies gediend en is als erkenning benoemd tot gasthoogleraar Intensive Care Medicine aan de Columbia University in New York. Sinds 2012 is hij voorzitter van de Networking World Anesthesia Convention (NWAC). Hij is tevens docent aan de Universiteit van Bristol. Zijn belangstelling voor management, efficiëntie en veiligheid heeft geleid tot een positie als professor en werkplekbegeleider voor MBA-cursussen aan een Londense business school. Dr. Falter is auteur van meer dan 50 peer-reviewed publicaties en drie tekstboeken.
