GLOBAL POINT OF CARE
EFFECTS OF COVID-19 ON HIV TESTING
During the pandemic, HIV testing rates decreased nationally and test sites are still working to get back to pre-pandemic rates. Now is the time to re-evaluate the HIV testing protocols, including which rapid HIV test your facility is using. Determine HIV-1/2 Ag/Ab Combo is the first and only antigen/antibody rapid point-of-care test that detects both HIV-1/2 antibodies and p24 antigen – enabling early detection to link individuals to care sooner and avoid further transmission.
Rapid And Early Identification Of Hiv Infections
Abbott’s Determine HIV-1/2 Ag/Ab Combo Test is the only FDA cleared, CLIA waived, rapid point-of-care test that detects both p24 antigen and antibodies on single test strip.
Using an antigen and antibody test allows detection of both acute and chronic HIV infections – detecting HIV infections sooner (acute phase) than antibody-only tests.1 Individuals in the acute phase are 26X more contagious than those in the chronic phase so knowing their status would help to lower transmission rates.4

EASY-TO-USE POINT-OF CARE SCREENING

Performed in 3 easy steps with minimal training to allow testing across a range of test sites

99.9% overall clinical sensitivity for all sample types - capillary and venous whole blood, serum, and plasma

Results in just 20 minutes
Test in Three Easy Steps
1. Prepare Test
Bend along the perforation, then tear one strip from the right and remove cover.

2. ADD SELECTED SAMPLE
Fingerstick Whole Blood
Apply 50 μL of sample by touching the tip of the capillary tube to the sample pad. Wait 1 minute, then add chase buffer.
Venous Whole Blood
Apply 50 μL of sample by touching the tip of the precision pipette to the sample pad. Wait 1 minute, then add chase buffer.
Serum or Plasma
Apply 50 μL of sample by touching the tip of the precision pipette to the sample pad.

3. Read Results
Read the results for both the free HIV-1 p24 antigen (Ag) and HIV-1/2 antibodies (Ab) in just 20 minutes.
