RSV in the Elderly: An Underdiagnosed Problem

Summary
There are hundreds of thousands to millions of cases of RSV in the US annually leading to over 150,000 hospitalizations and about 14,000 deaths. Yet even with these statistics, RSV is often thought of a viral infection impacting only the very young. This webinar shows the impact of RSV in the elderly group along with the diagnostic options available.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the impact RSV has on the elderly and when they should be tested.
- Evaluate the diagnostic options available to ensure proper performance in this population.
- Consider how appropriate testing can limit the spread of RSV to other people in a risk category.
- Discuss the future of RSV with the potential of antivirals and vaccines.
