GLOBAL POINT OF CARE
Implementing HS Troponin in the Emergency Department
Summary
Abbott Point of Care Webinar Session - Implementing a point-of-care high-sensitivity cardiac Troponin (hs-TnI) into the Emergency Department. This webinar will explore the latest developments in high-sensitivity cardiac Troponin (hs-TnI) at the bedside.
In this session, Dr Laura Joyce will discuss the implementation of point‑of‑care high‑sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs‑TnI) in the Emergency Department, and how it has the potential to reduce length of stay for patients presenting with chest pain. Importantly, the benefits extend beyond individual patients to the broader health system.
Learning Objectives
Following this session, participants will be able to:
- Explain the role of point‑of‑care high‑sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs‑TnI) in the assessment of patients presenting with chest pain
- Evaluate the potential impact of point‑of‑care hs‑TnI testing on Emergency Department length of stay and operational efficiency
- Identify practical considerations for implementing point‑of‑care cardiac biomarker testing within established clinical pathways
Author / SPEAKER
Dr Laura Joyce is an Emergency Medicine Specialist based in Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand, and deputy dean at the University of Otago Christchurch. She is currently undertaking a PhD focusing on the implementation of science behind embedding point-of-care biomarker testing within clinical pathways in the emergency department.
