Global Point of Care
Current Testing Recommendations for Viral Respiratory Infections

Summary
Viral respiratory infections can have overlapping symptoms. Therefore, diagnostic testing is essential to prescribe the appropriate antimicrobial treatment. This webinar will discuss the pre-analytical factors for influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and COVID-19, and diagnostic options available. It will give a better understanding of risk groups and what tests need to be focused on particular populations.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss the current state of COVID-19, influenza, and RSV.
- Review the current methods to test for viral respiratory pathogens.
- Define how diagnostic stewardship programs and testing algorithms can help
determine what tests to use on various patient populations at different times of year.
