Let’s Talk Troponin: What You Need
to Know About High-Sensitivity Troponin Assays

Summary
Many institutions have not yet adopted high-sensitivity troponin assays in the United States even though these assays are now recognized by AHA/ACC as the biomarkers of choice in aiding in the diagnosis and disposition for patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome.
Confusion about the advantages of high-sensitivity troponin assay capabilities and how to best employ them in chest pain pathways can lead to delays in process improvement and optimal patient care for this vulnerable population.
This webinar will focus on research showing the advantages of high-sensitivity troponin versus contemporary troponin, strategies for employing high-sensitivity troponin assays in chest pain pathways including protocols and pathways and potential improvements in chest pain patient care provided by these assays. The ultimate goal is for webinar attendees to gain a better understanding of high-sensitivity assay capabilities and how to use them to help improve patient care in their own institutions.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the benefits of high-sensitivity troponin versus contemporary troponin assays
- Understand the interpretation of hs-TnI elevations in clinical context
- Understand the advantages and drawbacks of key hs-TnI testing strategies
- Describe key components of chest-pain pathways incorporating hs-TnI assays
This event is produced by Whitehat Communications and sponsored by Abbott Point of Care.
About Presenter
Simon A. Mahler, MD, MS is a Professor and Vice Chair of Research for the Department of Emergency Medicine and professor in the Departments of Epidemiology and Prevention and Implementation Science at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
